Compass/mini map - Guild Wars Forums

ok i have 2 small questions abou the compass that is on the top right of the screen.

when you put the pointer in it and left click it, its does soemthing very odd? its looks like a sonar ping when you single click it? and when you hod down the left mouse you can draw in it?

any ideas what this is for?

Its for communicating with your party members.

The red circle/sonar sound thing is a way for your party to see what enemies you want to engage. Or maybe to tell your party to help with mobs.

And the drawing feature is useful to tell your party where to go. You can draw a line around a road or tell them to go right instead of left, etc.

Most people use it for that. Other people use it to spam ping the map and draw happy faces on it. Hopefully that will die down though, because it is probably the most useful map I have ever seen in a game.

kewl. thanks for the help. Im a level 9 Elem/Monk and havent grouped with anyone yet in the game to use these options

Further down the road I have noticed that the game will use it to ping objectives to you. When trying to find something or someone it pings in blue or yellow colors.

I don't know about you guys, but I thought the on-screen writing thing was for bypassing the naughty words filters. I can't tell you how many genitalia I've seen on my minimap in the few several days =P

In all seriousness, though, the drawing on the minimap is great for communicating - it's much faster than typing instructions. Its one of those little things I wish I'd had in other MMOs =P
